I  REmEMBER when I lived life as a Butterfly   Happy, joyful, carefree.  Now every decision I must make is so intense.  It's been 5 years since my last stroke (my 3rd) brain injury.  I want me back.  I dont like this new me.  I miss me.

I suffered my TBI back in 1995. The "old" me is dead, but the "new" me has a lot, not all mind you, of the "old" me still in him. I can't do some things that I used to do at all, i.e ride bicycles, rock climb, work in a winery etc., but I can still do some things. The "new" me (born on 9/15/1995) has learned that there are things he can now do that he enjoys that the the "old" me (born on 4/12/1970) would not have been caught dead doing, i.e. reading books in a coffee shop, using a computer, riding a bike trainer indoors, and especially writing books - I've written two books on my TBI and all the blankety-blank-blank  that goes with it.

I think you will enjoy both of these books. Warning: They are not "rah-rah", "Go get 'em," Everything will turnout fine" books. They tell it like it is...and it sucks. But you just have to deal with it. That is all you, me, and anyone with an injured brain can do.

You are you! Don't let this TBI crap mess you up, are there things you used to do that you can't now? They told my family that I'd be a vegetable for the rest of my life at best, when I first had my crash, there has been people saying you can't do that all the time over the last two years.....

I just say fuck it, we are who we are, as long as your family supports you, don't worry about forgetting things sometimes etc. as I sometimes do!

You are who you are, and you sound like a nice person!
