Patience
"I'm tired," Mark said as he walked through our front door. He didn't have to say anything, I knew already by his uneven gate and his stooped shoulders. He was beyond tired. I turned the stove off and walked to the entry way to help him to his chair. It had been a long week and he needed to rest. Tired....
I have done a lot of research on the exhaustion associated with traumatic brain injury; how the injured brain can only handle so much stimulus and then it literally shuts…

Walk for Thought Day, Minnesota
Hello all, Been quite awhile since I’ve posted anything here, so let me tell you what I’m doing now. Have become a member of the Brain Injury Association of Mn., and a member of the traumatic brain injury support group in the Golden Valley (Mn) Courage Center. I also attended a conference for the Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) for their Patients & Families Care Center. An interesting conference to say the least: a full day where patients or family told HCMC staff concerning what…

Sex therapy
The aftermath of neurological damage is that the muscles on the inside of my legs have begun to atrophy. This affects my balance and walking abilities as well as my sex life. My husband and I opted to visit with a sex therapist to learn how to keep our private life alive. Among the most interesting things we learned were from instructional videos from the Harvard University. I found it amusing to learn that there is an entire department at Harvard devoted to studying sexual behaviors…
