Hello everyone!!! I am thrilled to lead this support group into the 21st century and the computer-age technology!!! I'm excited about this opportunity to meet more wonderful people touched by TBI. I recently became a co-facilitator for the Olympia, WA branch, and from this moment going forward, I will begin to grow and flourish this group. I lead a wonderful and amazing group of people in the Olympia (Thurston County) area; this is one of my greatest joys and my vision for all of us to see the positive energies that surround us!!!
I am in the process of writing an autobiography which tells the troubles and the pain that I went through, the hills and the valleys that I went though. I worked with Stephanie Lane down at the Health & Recovery Services Administration making a toolkit for the TBI and Co-Occurring Disorders that is going to be part of the official Washington State web site. I have also studied many areas dealing with TBI and how to cope and manage life, how to deal with the feelings and the emotions.
My TBI happened in 1987 when I was 14 years old. I was in a coma for three weeks and in the hospital for 3 months and 6 days. When I awoke from my coma, I could not walk, talk, eat, or “go to the bathroom”, to put it politely. I have Expressive Aphasia and I’m fine with that. I love the person I turned out to be, especially the inner beauties that I posses.
I look forward to learning more about all of you
