Faith and trust made all the difference.

My rehab process was quite long, almost 50 years.  That was due to the low level of TBI Medical expertise in the 1950s.It was a sports accident, basketball.One of the most important things was forgiveness, not only forgiveness of myself and self anger but also forgiveness of the person on the opposing team who pushed me into an unpadded wall in the gym.My faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ helped me through the most difficult situations of depression and a near death situation in 1975.  I…See More

Hi Brit, I was pleased that you commented upon my posting.

I also find that tranquil settings especially near a stream or with soft music playing helps to quiet my fears as does a movie or even a good book (usually an interesting paragraph that I research) in which I become totally absorbed - something that I enjoy that does not "put me on alert" and does not raise my blood pressure - no suspense in the movies.

Carol wrote that life with TBI is fear-filled.

I too have expereienced the pain of fearfulness -- that I may die from my injuries.

My 2nd TBI on 03/18/2010 happened when my vehicle was stopped at a red light and was rear-ended by an uninsured motorist.

Several times within the past 8 months or so I felt like dying and sometimes for long periods of time. 

I recalled that my pastor had said in a sermon at church in Atlanta 15 years ago that what people fear never happens more than 99 % of the time.  I now think, why be…
