I am a brain injury Survivor, Family/Caregiver or professional
Survivor
What do you find most difficult living with a brain injury
I used to drive Meadow Gold Transport to Spokane and Lewiston, Id. 3/17/07 I began my 2nd life... In some ways it was ok and somewhat a blessing, I am learning to accept life as it comes to me each day.... Retired early, and now I understand other people better, including my wife.... I am able and enjoy cooking, but the work on the farm is still demanding, volunteering at the hospital is very good for my multi-tasking and memory!& rewarding... Naps are a must, I've learned to listen to my body... then I am better to others and myself... Running the farm machinery was very hard at first, and I still do not respond quickly, (reaction time) Animals are a great source of therapy. I joined Craig's site because he was at our Montana conference...and impressed me...Also I enjoy following David, (runtoremember)... because of my age and earlier skill, Computers are "new" to me.... but another challenge to attack...

Thank you for the nice comments. I totally understand the memory and  such . I do the mess up a lot myself. LOl... I am not so good on the computer  since my brain injury. I get a bit overwhelmed at times. Graig S. set my site up for meand hopefully in time I will get more comfortable with using the computer. Having spell check is a blessing. I use to have a voice recondition program on an older computer but it is not compatible with this one and so I struggle the best I can. Someday I may just get a laptop that can have all the things to do skyp, conferencing and etc.

Glen, thank you so much for your kind words and warm welcome... and the daisies!  I am still trying to figure out how to use this site, but I already have benefitted and feel like I have "come home" in a way.  Ienjoyed looking at the pictures you posted, especially the animals and little girls (your grandaughters?) - really precious and so full of life!  Thanks again. ~ Kathie

Hi Glen-

Actually it was probably more when I was an outpatient than when I was an inpatient that they discouraged napping.  It isn't like anyone has a say anymore about it.  The government finally put me on disability since I was working for the VA and ended up having to resign.  It was just too much for me.  It helped that I had a neuropsychiatrist that has done alot of work with TBI and he was the one who told me to stop working.  He had a meeting with my mom and me.  So now I feel a bit lost, but I am sure the Lord has something planned for me.  I just wait and abide.  We will see.  I am much happier though not having to work.  The Lord has been faithful to me.  The man that almost killed me just got a slap on the wrist and a fine.  He never had to give me a penny because I survived and he did not have insurance.  God is much greater than that though, so I know by faith that He has a plan for my life.  Kerry

By the way Glen, I would do anything if you could teach me how to do things on the computer.  It is so difficult for me to understand things and I get frustrated.  I just know the basics.  Kerry

Hi Glen-

Thanks for sending me a comment on your sleep issues.  You have such a great heart and I can tell you have a deep faith....that is so awesome.  My faith has helped to keep me going. I appreciate your heart felt care for each and every one of us that has survived.  It would be great if I could nap, but I was trained so well in rehab NOT to nap because of the TBI sleep issues, that it is rare when I can.  Mornings are my best time and after 3pm I am toast as you would say.  Thanks for the comment.  God Bless.  Kerry

Glen-thank you for the encouragement to get back to working on my art. It may be different now, but that is okay too. it would be good therapy for me. Your page looks great and I enjoyed the pictures too. Take care, Chris
