I am a brain injury Survivor, Family/Caregiver or professional
What do you find most difficult living with a brain injury
Just trying to keep up with making my own Dr. appointments, taking down all the information, loading it into a phone etc... so that I can make the appointment! Making sure I pay my bills on time, trying to communicate with family without them getting upset with me because they never have understood what happened 12 years ago, trying not to get "too lost!" when I am going out in the world~in a store, taking a walk, going to a new place like a Dr. appointment I have today~ remembering to talk to God about it so that He helps me through it, taking the time to do yoga and meditate so I can think more clearly, writing in my diary helps too, trying not to say anything too strange or forget what I started out saying to a new friend or someone I meet, feeling so upset with myself after getting off the phone either 5 minutes or hours later with someone and remembering something important I wished I had said...
are you on another social network such as facebook, so we can varify your a real person trying to apply
yes, facebook, twitter
what is most important that you learn about brain injury
How to join more support groups that may be available, watch more helpful videos, learn about more upcoming events that I can finally start going to! I love helping others with what I am learning, slowly but surely I am starting to heal and move forward.
When I noticed you were online, I read your profile page and relized you are a fellow Pacific NWer! I live in Olympia, WA. Over Spring break we were in OR looking at colleges with one of my sons - I think we may have been in your town when we visited Willamette College? I really related to many things you wrote in your profile - family and day to day stuff, but, also, things that you find have supported your recovery. I, too, have found meditation to help me greatly (especially with anxiety and focusing my attention), and I am trying to get back to a yoga practice - that was an important part of my life before my accident, which was 4 years ago Easter Sunday. I notice you mentioned wanting to watch helpful videos - there are many good ones on this site! I hope that we get to talk more. Take care! ~ Kathie
