Do you get these headaches?
They are Type 1 Post-traumatic headaches (as described in my earlier discussion) accompanied with sinus pain. So, essentially, you get the tension-type headache with pain and stiffness that goes down your neck, shoulders and back, PLUS you get sinus involvement - eyes get red and tired, sinuses fill up (not so much in your nasal passageways, but deeper inside), thinking gets foggy, slower. You start to feel like you have the flu, but you know you don't, because it's self limiting and it goes away when you rest.
My head injury was 14 years ago, and I've been dealing with these multi-type headaches ever since then.
I just want to know if anyone else experiences these, and if they have any information as to the biological processes that cause them to happen.

Permalink Reply by Paula L Florentine on June 27, 2012 at 11:44am Hi. I suffer with sinus problems every week. I use Saline Spray in my nose just to breath properly. I take 5 different medicines for my head injury from January 5, 2008 and a second concussion 6 months later. I suffered a Basal Skull Fracture (back of the brain) and another severe concussion in June, 2008. The sinuses are controlled from the base of your brain where I was injured-also, it controls your vision and hearing-I am 50% deaf in both ears. I was told by my neurologist that the base of the brain where I was very injured I was to be blind as it controls the optic nerve center. I am not blind, but my eyes are in pain and I have trouble with my vision.
My sinus cavities are very affected as they told me this right after my accident. It is ongoing. All I can advise is to use the Saline Nasal Spray as it will not interfere with your medication such as high blood pressure drugs.
I have headaches too-my entire head hurts and it feels like there is a hand inside my skull pushing on my brain-I have to lay down for a long time and take more medication than normal to control this pain. It debilitates me-I am permenently disabled from the beginning, but I have headaches all the time. I take 5 drugs from seizure, anxiety, anti-depressent, high blood pressure, and pain medication everyday. I dont know the biology of the sinus problem other than I know the back of your brain controls the sinus cavities per my neurologist.
