There is a piece of Federal Legislation called the Disabled Public Safety Officer's Fairness Act of 2011 that is being sponsored by Congressman Ed Towns of Brooklyn, NY that will provide public safety officer disability benefits to officer's (like myself) disabled before the enactment of the Federal public safety officer disability benefit law of 1992.

This  Legislation was returned from the Congressional Budbet Office this past summer and it was found to be "cost-neutral".

I need help, would you please contact your Congresional Representative and ask that they sign on to this Legislation sponsored by Congressman Ed Towns by contacting Emily Shetty who is Legislation Director in his Washington, DC Office at 202-225-5936.

Thanks,

Mike Nicholson

Let me get this straight:  I should call my Congressional Representative (Senate or House) of my state (Oregon) and ask them to call Emily Shetty?   I would be happy to do this, but need to find my state/congressional legislative representative first....I think I know who they are.   I'll look on the internet!

Jennifer, yes Could you contact your Congressional Representative? you can find out who there are by contacting your Town or Village Hall and give them your address. Ask your Congressperson to consider co-sponsoring the Disabled Public Safety Officer's Fairness Act of 2011 that is being sponsored by Congressman Ed Towns of Brooklyn, NY. This Legisilation will provide public safety officer disability benefits to officers (like me), disabled before the enactment of the Federal public safety officer disabiulity beneift law of 1992.

They can contact Emily Shetty who is Congressman Towns Legislative Director in Washington, DC at 202-225-5936 to sign on as an orioginal co-sponsor to this bill..

Thankyou very much,  Mike...
