I have noticed many people would like to start a foundation for fellow survivors--to help with expenses while they start to make adjustments because many of our families were not prepared to take on these plus loss of income. Then there is Awareness, Education & Reseach
Well I had a rocket science idea maybe...If we all try to work together to form a Relay for life type event that can be done annually--or maybe get some type of concert like they did for Farm Aid....
Does anyone else out here think it could work ?

I think it would be a good idea, finding the right fit could be tough, and if it is going to be for a state or a city or national lots to figure out but if a high profile leader would help it could be done, keep probing you might get lucky and do something great, all you can do is keep trying till something sticks
maybe if we talk to some of our miltary troops who have had wounded with TBI, write famous artist--actors, singers ect,---public officials in each of our states--state & national BI for their support, of course we would send them the basic info on TBI/ABI so they have some sort of understanding...and I understand about the breakfast usually I just give up and either eat toast & jam or wait till I can think what I want for lunch!

I am almost 23 years into my status as TBI survivor, and I have been remarkably fortunate. However, I still confront issues relating to adjusting, feeling okay in my own skin, etc. I have some ideas I would like to add to this discussion:

(1) While it is eminently sensible to not be too ambitious in starting a new endeavor, keep in mind that there are myriad wrinkles to such a beautiful project. For example, TBI is longitudinal, in that its effects extend throughout the lifespan, and survivors may need help for years. For those persons who need, or want, education or training to be self-supporting, why not set up a foundation targeted toward making grants to pay tuition?

(2) Your idea has a lot of appeal these days, with TBI survivors' ranks being swelled by wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Capitalize on that and market, Market, MARKET the foundation to corporations and grant-making foundations (foundations commonly make grants to other foundations.
