Wondering what everyone is taking as I know alcohol and other substances effect us differently then before(In my case anyways) so didn't know if there was something geared towards someone with a TBI.

Thanks

Good question.

Find a doctor that understands TBI and have someone maintain observation for two weeks?

I'm a big fan of better living through chemistry but most of my bad reactions occurred within 10 days.

Is there something geared toward us?  I suspect it is individual, but I'd like to know, too.

I would also like to know the answer to this.  I have tried a lot of antidepressants and not had much luck, but it seems like if we had one central place where people pooled their experiences, good and bad, that would help.  I had pretty good results, actually, with Abilify as part of my drug "cocktail", but I started having some permanent ticks and made the decision to stop that drug as a result.  It's too bad, because the times when I felt more relief from the depression, the Abilify was always there.  I'd be interested to know if anything is working for anyone.

I'm a proud TBI survivor and I have a day job as an in-patient psychological therapist. My best advice to you is DO NOT rely on a general practitioner to prescribe any psychoactive drugs for you. GPs and internists just don't know that much about psych meds and even less about the permanent neuropsychological effects of TBI. As a result of my injury I have seizures, impulse control problems and more of the usual stuff. Please see somebody who understands all this. .... ned bane, m.s.

Amen. Not only do a lot of GPs and internists not understand the permanent effects of TBI, some of them are judgmental jerks condemning any behavioral difficulties to personality rather than organicity. ...

Thanks for the diet information. I'm kind of an old hippie organic and supplement guy. ... If I can find it, there's also a chronic pain diet protocol that is quite friendly to we TBI folks. ... my best to you
